:30, september 14th. welcome jennifer hill to the bay area. she has a look at the forecast. >> good morning, everybody. it was a little cold yesterday and will be a little bit warmer today. low clouds will burn off earlier than they did yesterday. we are looking at the 8:00 a.m. forecast. 56 in livermore and 54 in fairfield. patchy fog in the forecast in the morning hours. as we get into the noon hour, 73 degrees in concord and clearing happening along the way itself. happening earlier than yesterday and temperatures will be warmer. as we head towards 4:00, temperatures near 80. cool in the evening and back into the 70s for fairfield. 75 degrees for napa and 75 for san jose. we will see some clouds towards the specific, but clearing towards san francisco and santa cruz will see 67 for a high. i know it's my first day, but talking about rain. we are looking at showers on friday. the north bay and possibly getting as far south as san mateo and it's for the weekend. not my fault! >> happy first day. mike? >> hardly my first day, but i won't talk about rain. we will leave it to jennifer. we are

to weather and jennifer king of the hill hill. >> speaking of weather, we broke a lot of records yesterday. some of us will see a cool down, but in the east bay that's not going to happen. 96 degrees at noon and 96 in livermore and 95 in concord and 90 in fremont. the forecast highs, we will see a sea breeze, but inland it's going to be another hot day. 102 in fairfield and 105 in livermore and 102 in concord. we should see a cool down and thankfully it is coming sooner rather than later. i couldn't turn down the heat too much. >> it would be a good day to spare the air, but you don't want to ride your bike in the heat. >> we want to find alternate transportation, but lower the activity because of the air quality. we will focus on the people who are stuck. you have a van that got sideways. no injuries reported. one lane is blocked as you head through oakland. westbound is the morning commute that takes effect in about a half hour. looking nice right now and eastbound we have the construction in towards livermore out of pleasanton. no major slowing and 680 we will see the slowing over towar

up 5:00. we want to get started with jennifer hill in for rob. take a look at the heat coming for real. >> it's going to be very hot this weekend. when you walk out the door, you can't imagine it will be that hot. temperatures in the 40s and 50s at 8:00 a.m. it will be in the 50s by noon. the east bay hitting the 80s and the mid 70s. at 4:00, 90s being felt in livermore and concord and 78 degrees. 85 in redwood city. i will have a look at the hot weekend forecast. >> excellent. just in time for the fall the heat comes in. just in time for the friday. a sigalert starting after 3:30. overturned big rig at the columbus parkway from westbound 80. the direction coming through fairfield and slowing. distractions and all lanes are open, but the columbus exit and off and getting over towards highway 37 and redwood parkway through the streets of vallejo. 6:00 for the earliest clear up. we will follow this as the commute builds. back to you. >> new this morning in just a few hours, a federal judge will decide whether all ex-cougs in california can resume. if the judge rules in favor of

's check your forecast. for that we turn to meteorologist jennifer hill who's in for rob this morning. good morning, jennifer. >> good morning. it's a little cool outside. we had that breeze really picking up yesterday but a big warmup is on the way. a bit of low clouds around this morning, maybe a little fog but we'll see that burning off. temperatures in the 50s as we look at 8:00 a.m. as we head toward noon we'll all be enjoying quite a bit of sunshine and warm us up to 70 in concord, 71 in livermore, 67 in san jose, 62 at noon. so is the first day of fall that comes this evening at 8:00, it's going to feel more like summer as we head toward the end of the week. 69 degrees at 4:00 in fremont, 73 in livermore and we're looking at 68 degrees. so with the seven-day forecast here, a little cool today. we're forecasting temperatures right in the mid-70s as we look at the east bay. by the time we hit the weekend, forecast highs making it back into the 90s for the first weekend of fall. it kind of seems counter intuitive, doesn't it, scott. >> it does. great way to start fall. >>> mike joining

'm brent cannon. jennifer hill is taking a look at the forecast. >> it will be the hottest day of the heat spell. temperatures have been nice in the morning. 50s and 60s. enjoy the nice temperatures because they won't last long. 12:0090s in the east bay and 80 no, sir marin. all the way down to the southern valleys and the city. we will take a look at the very hot forecast and tell you when the cool down is am category back. >> thanks a lot. new this morning, police are cracking down on drivers in and around school zone this is week. bob redell is live outside adson elementary school in palo alto with what's behind the crack down. bob? >> research nationwide shows one in six drivers in a school zone is distracted. basic like a drunk driver according to the group that ran the research. hence the reason why police will be running operation safe passage this week. this is something to do a few times a year through friday. they will be patrolling school zones outside adson elementary. they will be at other locations and in the south bay. officers will be strictly enforcing the traffic laws to

. and that spokeswoman, i told you that i spoke to, jennifer allen, just arrived about 15 minutes ago. she told me that crews worked overnight to restore water service to 40 households and i spoke to one neighbor this morning. he told me his water was restored around 2:00 a.m. >> we are just going to bed and washing the dishes and water stopped, came outside, and the whole street was flooded. >> it stopped down the street, it happened about a week ago, too. i guess something is going on with the pipes. >> the contra costa water district crews will be out here for the rest of the day. we've been told this 8-inch water main is going to take until at least later today to be completely repaired. of course they have to patch the road. you can see a huge hole right here at morello, but for drivers coming through here and needing to get through the street, they were not allowed last night. they have one lane open this morning. we'll continue to update you on the situation, luckily there was no flooding to any of the residents overnight. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> well a m
